All-Time Medal Table
Aggregated across all 55 editions. "By NOC code" matches official IOC convention — every historical code (Soviet Union, Unified Team, Russia, ROC, AIN, etc.) is its own row. "Grouped by country" additionally merges the 7 lineages with exactly one unambiguous modern continuation (Germany, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Egypt) into a single row; Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and the USSR/Russia lineage are deliberately left unmerged in both views since each has multiple present-day successor states. "By continent" groups by each NOC's actual Olympic continental association, not strict physical geography (so Israel, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan fall under Europe); six explicitly non-national designations are excluded from this view entirely.

Every leaderboard here is derived directly from medal counts, host nations, and event totals already in the edition data — no new research, just different ways of ranking the same numbers.
NOC Lineage Resolver
Pick a season, then a country or a year — whichever you pick first narrows the other. Works for both dynamic lineages (splits, mergers, renames) and stable countries.
Notable Records
350 entries from all 55 editions, in one chronological, searchable feed — debuts, upsets, doping reallocations, boycotts, and historic moments spanning 1896 to 2026.
Sports & Disciplines
Notable discipline debuts noted while building this atlas, in chronological order. This is a curated selection, not an exhaustive catalog of every discipline ever contested — most editions' full sport lists were never individually enumerated.
Total medal events per edition, 1896–2024 (Summer) and 1924–2026 (Winter). Hover a point for details.
Every sport that has ever appeared on an Olympic program, official or demonstration-only — 89 entries, hand-researched and cross-checked against multiple sources. Solid bars are official medal-sport years; faded bars are official years for sports no longer on the program; small dots are demonstration/exhibition-only appearances, which never counted toward any medal table.
Host Cities
All 44 host cities across 55 editions. Dot size reflects how many times a city has hosted. Hover a dot for details.
Every host city, most-hosted first. Eleven cities have hosted more than once — Beijing is the only city ever to host both a Summer and a Winter Games.
Compare Countries
Pick two countries to compare all-time totals and head-to-head results at every edition where both won at least one medal. Uses the same country groupings as the All-Time Medal Table's "grouped by lineage" view.
